Fact File #6

Insured: Grunewald.
Date of loss: 06 December 2006.

Circumstances: Repatriation of vehicle and delivery of hired vehicle to Insured.

On 6 December 2006, the Insured was on his way to the Klagagadi Transfrontier National Park with his guests and family. Approximately 150Kms from the small town of Askham, a tyre fitted the Landrover Defender in which they were traveling, burst causing the 4X4 to roll. Fortunately, only minor injuries were sustained by the occupants. These were treated by the insured since he is a medical practitioner. A friendly farmer in the area, assisted the insured and towed their 4X4 to his nearby farm.

Our client contacted us shortly after this unfortunate incident for assistance in term of his TUFFSTUFF 4x4 INSURANCE policy. Since there were no serious injuries to the vehicles occupants, no medical evacuation was required. However, TUFFSTUFF immediately arranged for the following:

  1. A replacement 4x4 was hired and fully paid for by TUFFSTUFF and was delivered to the inured on the farm at Askham on the same day. This enabled the insured and his party to continue with their journey to their holiday destination in the Kalahari. The insured had the use of the hired vehicle for a total of 34 days.
  2. Two days later, the damaged Landrover Defender was collected by TUFFSTUFF from the farm in Askham and returned to Johannesburg for damage assessment. The vehicle was a total loss.
  3. The full retail value of the Landrover was paid out in terms of this claim.

We are pleased to still have Dr. Grunewald as a valued client with his new Landrover Discovery III.
